PATTAYA, THAILAND – Two foreign tourists were hospitalized after their motorcycles collided on Jomtien Second Road late on January 25, prompting a rapid emergency response in the busy resort city.

The crash occurred in the evening on Jomtien Second Road, just before the junction with Chaiyapruek Road in the direction of Na Jomtien. According to initial reports, the two motorcycles sideswiped each other shortly before a traffic light. Municipal officials on patrol arrived at the scene soon after the impact, immediately placing emergency calls and organizing first aid.
Russian woman and Iraqi man injured
The injured were identified as a Russian tourist and an Iraqi tourist. The woman suffered upper body injuries and several abrasions, while the man sustained a wrist injury. Both were conscious when rescue workers arrived but were visibly shocked and in significant pain.
Rescue chain and hospital transfers
Rescue teams reached the accident site quickly and stabilized the tourists before transport. The Russian woman was taken to Pattaya Bhattamakun Hospital for further treatment, and the Iraqi man was admitted to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. Witnesses emphasized the importance of the rapid intervention by municipal officials and emergency services, with one observer stating:
“Every minute counts in a situation like this.”
said an eyewitness.
Police probe focuses on driving behaviour
Police officers arrived later to secure the scene, redirect traffic and launch an initial investigation. The precise cause of the collision remained unclear, but officers opened a thorough investigation, securing all traces and interviewing witnesses. Possible factors under review included excessive speed, failure to yield and driver distraction, with results expected in the coming days.
