PHUKET TOWN, THAILAND – The Phuket city administration yesterday launched a new campaign against blocked sidewalks and occupied streets.
Inspections on Phang Nga Rd and Thalang Rd
Officers from the Public Order Department inspected several key areas in Phuket Town yesterday. The focus was on obstacles and encroachments on sidewalks and roadways.
The operation was led by Thanaphan Phuripattaraphan from the Administrative Division and Mali Inthisit from the General Administration Division. They were supported by staff from multiple municipal departments, including public relations and strategy and budget teams.
Fight Against Misuse of Public Spaces
The city administration said the campaign aims to improve cleanliness, order and safety. The goal is to address the widespread problem of unauthorized use of public areas.
Affected items include vendors, parked vehicles and other objects that block sidewalks, roads, markets and community areas. The initiative aims to create a safer and more convenient path for pedestrians and strengthen the shared use of public spaces.
Strict Action Against Violations
Authorities also emphasized the image effect for the city. A better environment is important to strengthen Phuket as a high-quality destination.
The city administration calls on residents, businesses and visitors to keep sidewalks and roads clear, not to park on sidewalks and not to encroach on public land. Those who violate face strict legal steps under the applicable laws.
