PHUKET, THAILAND – An elderly woman allegedly told tourists at Kathu waterfall to swim elsewhere, claiming the waterfall belongs to her. A video of the scene is circulating on Facebook.
The footage shows a woman in a yellow shirt and black trousers approaching tourists at the waterfall in Kathu and ordering them to leave.
Visitors ask whether the waterfall is not a public place. The woman sticks to her instruction: they should go swim somewhere else.

The recording was shared via the Facebook page “Hod Jung Phuket”. The post describes that visitors came to swim and were sent away afterwards.
In the comments, users question the woman’s claim. One asks mockingly whether she bought the chairs at the waterfall or rented the waterfall from the government.
Land ownership does not mean waterfall ownership
Other users think it possible that the woman owns land at the waterfall. However, property on the plot does not automatically mean ownership of the waterfall itself.
Whether she owns part of the grounds and whether she can legally control or restrict access is an open question.
