CHONBURI, THAILAND – CCTV footage has captured the moment a 33-year-old restaurant worker, Ms. Prueksa Boonlom, narrowly avoided a break-in at her home in Moo 12, Sri Racha district, after being followed by an unknown man in the early hours of the morning.
Late-night commute turns dangerous
Ms. Prueksa, who works as a receptionist at a restaurant in the Sahapat Industrial Park, had finished her shift around 2 a.m. on October 25th, 2025. After dropping off a colleague, she noticed a man on a motorcycle trailing her along the dimly lit road — speeding up and slowing down whenever she did.
Sensing something was wrong, she attempted several times to change her pace and direction, but the man continued to shadow her until she reached her home. Believing she was finally safe, she parked and went inside, locking only the inner wire mesh door — a routine she later regretted.
Intruder caught on camera
Moments later, the same motorcycle pulled back into the alley. Footage showed the man parking, walking toward her property, and asking casually whether local dogs were aggressive. After their brief exchange, he appeared to leave. However, CCTV recordings revealed that he soon returned, turning on his phone’s flashlight to inspect the shoes outside her door — apparently checking whether a man lived there or how many people were inside.
According to Ms. Prueksa’s account to The Pattaya News, the intruder then opened her front gate and attempted to force open the outer door. When she approached from inside to fasten it securely, she suddenly came face-to-face with him.
Face-to-face confrontation and escape
Startled, she screamed for help. Her partner, hearing the commotion, grabbed a hammer in self-defense. The loud noise startled the man, who turned and fled on his motorcycle. The entire sequence was recorded by security cameras mounted outside the home.
Police from the Nong Kham Police Station are expected to analyze the CCTV footage to help identify and locate the suspect.
Victim warns others to stay alert
After posting her experience on social media, Ms. Prueksa received widespread attention from local residents. She used the post to caution others working late or traveling alone at night to remain vigilant.
Her advice included:
• Check rearview mirrors frequently to detect possible followers
• Avoid isolated routes when commuting at late hours
• Ask family members for rides when possible to reduce risks
She said she plans to file a formal complaint with local authorities to ensure the incident is fully investigated.
Although shaken, Ms. Prueksa expressed gratitude that the encounter ended without physical harm. Her story served as a reminder of ongoing safety concerns for Thailand’s many night-shift workers who rely on motorcycles to travel home in the early morning hours.
