NONTHABURI, Thailand – A young woman lost her life late on June 12 following a serious accident involving a concrete mixer.

The devastating incident occurred on the new Chaiyaphruek Road as a 19-year-old woman and her 21-year-old boyfriend, an food delivery rider, were en route to a job. They were attempting to turn into the so-called cadastral office soi of Bang Bua Thong when disaster struck. The woman, identified as N.S. Atchariya, was the passenger on the back of their Yamaha NMAX motorcycle. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

According to the motorcycle driver, the collision happened during the turning maneuver, causing their vehicle to fall. The concrete mixer driver subsequently stopped. The rider, who sustained severe injuries, was later transported to Bang Bua Thong Hospital. The full extent of his injuries has not been detailed.

N.S. Kanyarat, who was riding her own motorcycle in the same group, witnessed the unfolding tragedy. She saw the couple’s motorcycle ahead of the concrete mixer before the unexpected crash. As she approached, the motorcycle was already trapped beneath the heavy wheels of the truck.

He stated that he checked his side mirrors while turning into the curve. He initially suspected a technical issue when he heard an unusual noise, which then stopped him.
“I didn’t see anything.”

He insisted he had not noticed the motorcycle. It was only the subsequent screams that brought his full attention to the situation.

Police officers immediately attended the accident scene and took a preliminary statement from the truck driver. He reiterated his claim of not having seen the two-wheeled vehicle. Authorities are now planning to review surveillance camera footage from nearby locations.

The young woman, who was severely injured in the accident, died before medical assistance could be rendered. Her body was later prepared by rescue workers for transport. The Poh Teck Tung Foundation transported her to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy. The investigation into the exact cause of the accident is ongoing.
