SATTAHIP, THAILAND – Two people were killed and three seriously injured when a car overturned at a major intersection in Chonburi shortly after midnight.
Car overturns at Sattahip intersection
The crash occurred at around 12:10 a.m. on 17 November 2025 on the Sukhumvit Road heading toward Pattaya, when a white Nissan March with Chonburi license plates lost control at the Sattahip junction and overturned, coming to rest on its roof. The driver, Kamolchanok Rakkhrot, 25, died at the scene.
“She was trapped underneath the car.”
said rescue workers from the Sawang Rojanatham Sattahip Foundation. A male front-seat passenger also succumbed to his injuries despite resuscitation attempts at the site.
Three other occupants were rushed to Queen Sirikit Marine Hospital with severe head injuries, back trauma and abrasions. They were identified as Panworas Thathong, 31, Isra Thongyot, 25, and Phetpailin Muesin, 25. Doctors said all three remain in critical condition. The identity of the deceased male passenger has not yet been publicly released, pending notification of his family.
Witness reports high speed as police investigate
The impact left the vehicle completely wrecked and a streetlight on the central median torn down, complicating rescue efforts as emergency teams worked to free the trapped occupants. Paramedics fought to stabilize the injured, but two victims could not be saved.
Eyewitness Panya Pongpatcharaphan described seeing the car travelling at high speed just before the collision.
“I saw the car coming from the traffic-light intersection at high speed.”
said Panya. He stated that the driver appeared to ignore a red light before losing control, striking the streetlamp and rolling over.
Police immediately cordoned off the area and launched an investigation. Officers are examining nearby surveillance camera footage and plan to closely review statements from the surviving passengers.
“We are clarifying the exact cause of the accident and the vehicle’s prior movements,”
said a police officer, adding that official findings are still pending. Investigators are looking into whether excessive speed, alcohol, or possible technical defects contributed to the crash, local outlet ThaiRath reported, while authorities underlined the incident as a stark warning about night-time driving risks in the area.
