Ten-Hour Fireplace Video Turns Into Cash Machine

Simple YouTube clip of crackling fire reportedly brought in over $1 million

BERLIN, GERMANY – A ten-hour YouTube video of a crackling fireplace reportedly earned more than a million dollars without a single word or visible creator.

Ten hours of fire, millions of views

What sounded like a joke had become reality: the YouTube video “Fireplace 10 hours in full HD” had been online since October 2016 and amassed around 156 million views, with estimated earnings of more than 1 million US dollars. The question remained whether one video could be enough to fund an early retirement.

A single clip becomes a cash cow

The video came from the channel “Fireplace 10 hours” and showed exactly what the title promised: a crackling fireplace for ten hours straight. There were no cuts, no music and no on-screen advertising, yet estimates from SocialBlade suggested the channel had earned about 1.248 million US dollars in nine years, roughly 39 million baht.

This worked out to an average of 140,000 dollars per year from just one video. With more than 111,000 subscribers, several hundred dollars were still flowing into the creator’s account every day.

Why viewers watched a virtual fire

The explanation for the phenomenon appeared simple: calm. For many users, the fireplace clip served as ideal ASMR and white noise content, helping them unwind.

Viewers wrote in the comments that they used the video to fall asleep, read, work or meditate. Others played it on their television as a virtual fireplace to bring a sense of coziness into the living room.

Still others used the clip in a pragmatic way, leaving it running overnight to keep a computer awake while files were downloading.

An anonymous YouTube phenomenon

No creator appeared on camera, there was no voice and no personal content, yet the video became a cult hit. This anonymity contributed to its success, as the clip was timeless and worked in any season and any country.

Experts viewed it as a prime example of evergreen content: uploaded once and relevant for years. There was no algorithm trick at play, only straightforward audience demand.

How much money was really behind the flames?

YouTube income depended on more than views alone. Key factors included advertising click-through rates, where viewers were located, the share of YouTube Premium users and the platform’s evolving monetization rules.

The cited sums were estimates, but even under conservative assumptions, one thing appeared clear: the fireplace kept burning – and so did the account balance. How much ultimately landed in the creator’s pocket remained uncertain.

A simple idea that changed a life?

Whether the person behind the channel was truly financially set for life stayed their secret. What was clear was that this video illustrated how a very simple idea on the internet could generate substantial income.

No scandal and no drama were needed – just fire and a camera capturing it for ten hours straight.
