Tragedy at Pattaya U-Turn: Teenager Dies in Motorcycle Accident
A 17-year-old boy lost his life in the early hours of October 9, 2025, following a devastating motorcycle accident in Pattaya. The incident occurred at a U-turn near Wat Santikham Temple, where the young rider lost control of his motorcycle, collided with an electricity pole, and was subsequently struck by an oncoming car. Despite immediate rescue efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fatal Turn in the Darkness
At around 3:00 a.m., the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center in Pattaya received an emergency call reporting a serious motorcycle accident at the U-turn near Wat Santikham Temple. Upon arrival, rescue workers were confronted with a harrowing scene.
The 17-year-old, identified as Mr. W, was found lifeless on the road, having suffered severe blood loss and a deep wound to his right leg. Despite attempts at resuscitation, paramedics could only confirm his death. His black Honda PCX was discovered approximately 20 meters away, completely destroyed.
Eyewitnesses Describe the Crash
Witnesses Tharin Thongpan and Kittiphum Mama, both 26, recounted the events: “We saw the motorcycle making a U-turn when it suddenly lost control.” They described hearing a loud crash as the bike slammed into a utility pole.
A white Toyota Altis, following behind, was unable to avoid the fallen motorcycle and collided with it, dragging the wreckage several meters. Fortunately, the driver did not hit the teenager, who was already lying on the ground.
Altis Driver in Shock
The visibly shaken driver of the Toyota told police, “I was driving normally when I reached the poorly visible spot. Due to the darkness and lack of streetlights, I saw the wreck too late.” He insisted that he did not hit the young man.
Police meticulously documented the accident scene and instructed the car driver to provide a statement at Banglamung Police Station. The victim’s body was transported to Pattamakun Clinic.
Poor Lighting Blamed for the Accident
A key factor appears to be the inadequate lighting at the accident site. Local residents have repeatedly criticized the poor street lighting in this area—concerns now underscored by this tragedy.
Investigators will review surveillance footage from the vicinity to reconstruct the exact sequence of events. One thing is certain: a young life has been lost, and a family is left to mourn.
