PATTAYA, THAILAND – An Indian club manager was accused of ordering a revenge attack in Pattaya, but the hired gang allegedly assaulted the wrong man, leaving an innocent motorcycle taxi driver injured.
Daytime assault caught on CCTV
CCTV footage reportedly showed more than ten men attacking a motorcycle taxi driver in broad daylight, punching and kicking him as he lay on the ground. Other drivers and foreign witnesses intervened, prompting the assailants to flee and leaving the victim injured at the scene.
“I had no previous conflict with the attackers,”
said Komsan Kongsook, a 47‑year‑old motorcycle taxi driver, who insisted he had clearly been the wrong target.
Dispute over risky ride sparked revenge
According to the report, the incident traced back two days earlier, when colleague Pakorn transported two Indians and two Russian women on his motorcycle. An intoxicated Indian passenger allegedly grabbed the handlebars.
“He twisted the throttle and endangered everyone,”
said Pakorn, describing how the confrontation escalated into a fistfight.
Injured tourist sought payback
Pakorn admitted to hitting the Indian man, who then required seven stitches. The injured passenger allegedly sought revenge, but the attackers targeted the wrong driver, mistaking Komsan for the colleague involved in the earlier altercation. Komsan, who had not been part of the original dispute, was left bearing the consequences of the misunderstanding.
Club manager denies hiring assailants
A 29‑year‑old club manager, identified as Daechathorn, accompanied four security employees to the police, where they reportedly turned themselves in. The manager rejected accusations that he had ordered the beating.
“I did not hire anyone and have no conflict with anybody,”
said Daechathorn, denying any role in arranging the attack.
Blame shifted to regular customer
In his account, the manager claimed that a regular customer of the club had paid the men involved. Police launched an intensive investigation to clarify who had actually commissioned the assault. Officers were working to reconcile conflicting statements from the security staff and the club management.
Victim suffers visible injuries
Komsan sustained a wound to his left eyelid and multiple bruises and injuries to his right hand. The family father reported the attack immediately at Mueang Pattaya Police Station, where the case drew public attention. He also turned to social media in a search for justice, triggering widespread outrage over the brutality of the assault.
Police hunt alleged mastermind
Investigators questioned all those involved in order to identify the Indian instigator suspected of pulling the strings behind the scenes. The four security guards who surrendered were considered mere henchmen, while the alleged mastermind remained at large.
“We will hold the perpetrator accountable!”
said the police, vowing to bring the person responsible to justice.
Tourism hub’s image under pressure
The attack posed another blow to the image of Pattaya as a major tourism destination, where safety has repeatedly come under scrutiny. Tourists were said to be asking whether the city remained secure, as authorities faced growing pressure to respond firmly. For Komsan, the shock ran deep, and his confidence in the safety of his work as a motorcycle taxi driver was severely shaken.
