BANGKOK, THAILAND – A gray SUV crashed through a concrete wall on the second floor of a Bangkok parking garage and came to a halt hanging over the edge, with no injuries reported.
Evening crash on busy Rama IV Road
The incident occurred on the evening of 20 January 2026 in the Khlong Toei district on the heavily trafficked Rama IV Road in central Bangkok. In a seven-storey parking garage of a building complex, a Toyota Corolla Cross with Bangkok license plates was driving on the deck. For reasons not yet clarified, the vehicle broke through the concrete barrier on the second floor of the car park.
Vehicle left hanging over the edge
The SUV finally came to a stop on the outer edge of the building and was left partially hanging over the drop. According to eyewitness accounts, the sight triggered significant shock among people in the area. Only a small section of the car remained on the concrete ledge, while the rest projected outward above the street below.
Driver walked away unharmed
The driver was able to open the door independently and exit the vehicle without assistance. Initial information indicated that he remained uninjured, and no other persons were in the car at the time of the incident. According to the emergency services, there were no injured persons and no fatalities, although medical emergency teams stayed on site while the securing work on the vehicle continued.
Complex operation to secure the SUV
Rescue workers and a disaster protection team immediately began securing the SUV with special equipment to prevent it from falling. The operation focused on stabilising the vehicle against a possible plunge to the street level below. Measures included securing the car with technical holding systems, preparing to pull it back onto the parking deck, and cordoning off the danger zone on the ground.
