Thai officer sought in large drug transport network case captured in Songkhla

SONGKHLA, THAILAND – A Thai police sergeant sought for allegedly leading a drug transport network has been arrested in Songkhla after nearly three years on the run. Authorities accuse him of involvement in a transport linked to the seizure of 100,000 methamphetamine tablets, a case investigators deem dangerous to public safety.

Arrest on the Military Golf Course

Officials spotted and apprehended the suspect, Pol Snr Sgt Sudi, as he drove a grey Mitsubishi Pajero on the grounds of the Senanarong military camp golf course. He was presented with an arrest warrant and his identity was verified.

The accused confirmed he was the individual named in the warrant and stated he had not been previously arrested. The enforcement team then handed him over to investigators for further processing.

How it All Began: The 2023 Seizure

The investigation was triggered by an incident on June 17, 2023, around 6:40 PM. Officers from the Ban Map Ammarit Police Station seized 100,000 methamphetamine tablets at a PT gas station in the Khao Chai Rat sub-district, Pathio district, Chumphon province.

The drugs were evidently intended for distribution. The Chumphon Provincial Police and other authorities expanded their inquiries to identify the supply chain and those responsible.

Transporters Arrested and Implicated the Officer

Following their arrests, Abbas and Wansulaiman told investigators that Pol Snr Sgt Sudi had led the operation and participated in the drug transport. Investigators initiated further action.

Arrest Warrant and Nearly Three Years on the Run

Based on the statements and collected evidence, investigators obtained an arrest warrant from the Chumphon Provincial Court for Pol Snr Sgt Sudi, who had evaded capture for nearly three years. On June 1, 2026, a deputy commander of the Chumphon Provincial Police reported a tip that Sudi was located in Songkhla. Special units and ONCB officials conducted a targeted search.

Police and Narcotics Agency Involved

This action aligns with government policy to target officials connected to drug trafficking.
