CHIANG MAI, THAILAND – Police have identified students who posted online threats of an attack at Montfort College. Bag checks and heightened security followed.
On Monday evening, two male students posted messages in a school LINE group. They threatened an attack at 10am the next day, targeting Mathayom 6 students in rooms 9 and 10.
Students threatened attack
The senders accused the targeted students of bullying. Some group members appeared to support the posts.
Screenshots spread through school and parent groups, sparking fears of a repeat of the recent shooting at Debsirin Nonthaburi School.
Bags checked before school activities
On Tuesday morning, August 11, Montfort College asked police from Mae Ping station for support. Officers secured the area in front of the school in Tha Sala sub-district, Mueang Chiang Mai district.
Every student’s bag was checked before entry. Mother’s Day activities were scheduled at the school that day.
Second student still missing
School management, police, and education officials met on campus to identify those responsible. The student who wrote the shooting threat had already been found.
A second male student who allegedly posted an image of a gun had not yet been located. Investigators contacted the parents of the identified students and asked them for talks to clarify the situation and the reason for the posts.
Parents pull children from school
Some parents who heard about the threats came to pick up their children. They voiced concerns about safety.

Crackdown on school security
Yutthana ordered police units in Chiang Mai to step up security and surveillance around all schools. The aim was to reassure students, teachers, staff, and parents.
Police urged families to rely on information from schools and authorities. Officers remained on high alert and continued preparations to protect educational institutions in the province.
Unconfirmed messages should not be forwarded as they could cause panic and encourage copycats.

Police, together with several schools, offer training based on the Run, Hide, Fight concept for students and teachers.
Schools, businesses, and private organizations can contact Chiang Mai provincial police or their local police station for such training.
