PATTAYA, THAILAND – A late-night police inspection of several agogo bars on Walking Street in Pattaya found no legal violations, authorities said.
Late-night sweep in entertainment district
The operation began at around 11 p.m. in the nationally known entertainment area of the coastal city and was led by Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyu, head of the Pattaya City Police Station. Officers focused on selected entertainment venues in the core of Walking Street as part of ongoing high-season measures to maintain security and enforce local regulations in the nightlife district.
Drug tests carried out on bar staff
During the inspection, officers collected urine samples from employees present in the venues under review. According to police, all tests were negative and there were no indications of drug use or other criminal offenses.
Police reiterate legal requirements
Officers again explained the legal requirements to venue owners and managers, placing particular emphasis on the ban on offering prostitution and on strict enforcement of the national “5-Free” policy for entertainment establishments. This framework requires venues to be free of child involvement, free of narcotics, free of weapons, free of human trafficking, and to guarantee the safety of guests.
Cooperative venues and calm atmosphere
Police stated that those responsible for the inspected venues were cooperative throughout the operation. The situation on site remained calm and orderly, and no further measures were deemed necessary following the inspection.
Regular checks planned across Pattaya
The Pattaya City Police stressed that such inspections would be carried out regularly across the city. Police circles said the goal was
“to strengthen public confidence in safety standards and to maintain Pattaya’s positive image as a leading tourist metropolis.”
