Norwegian man missing in Pattaya after visiting friend

Erik Varley Larsen last seen July 26; friend launches Facebook appeal for help

PATTAYA, Thailand – A Norwegian man has vanished in Pattaya after visiting a friend. Erik Varley Larsen arrived nearly two weeks ago to see a buddy – no trace of him since July 26. A worried acquaintance has now begged the public for help.

Larsen lives in Bangkok and headed to Jomtien on July 22. He planned to visit a Thai friend who works as an online teacher and lives in a condominium.

No contact since July 26

The last contact with the Norwegian came on July 26 around 1 pm. Since then he has been unreachable and is officially listed as missing.

Police have filed a formal missing person report for Erik Varley Larsen. The name of the Thai friend he was visiting is not known.

Facebook appeal seeks clues

Monny Meena posted a missing person appeal on August 2 in a Pattaya Facebook group. She shared photos of Larsen and a copy of the police report, asking people in Pattaya and Jomtien for help.

Meena lives in Bangkok and cannot search for the missing man in person. She said she had no contact with the Thai friend so decided to file an official missing person report.

Missing tourist in Chiang Mai found safe

A Turkish-German tourist reported missing in Chiang Mai has turned up again. He was unharmed.

The man told police he deliberately cut himself off from family and friends – for a nine-day social media detox.

Deliberate break – family thanks authorities

The tourist plans to stay another month in Chiang Mai and then travel on to the Philippines. The interim missing person report ended happily when he reappeared.

His relatives thanked the authorities for support during the search and expressed relief at the happy ending.
