PATTAYA, THAILAND – Pattaya is revising the environmental impact report for a planned three-line monorail system. Further public hearings are scheduled between September and November 2026, with the full report expected in January 2027.
The city administration wants to compile additional data for the environmental impact assessment and revise existing information. The responsible authorities are currently working on the details.

After the planned hearings, the revised report will be reviewed again. Pattaya currently expects the full completion in January 2027.
The project includes the Green, Red and Violet lines. The Green Line is planned as the most important route within the city and is intended to connect business districts, tourist destinations and important economic areas.

Planned stops include Pattaya Station, Dolphin Roundabout, Terminal 21 Pattaya, Central Festival Pattaya, Pattaya Night Bazaar and Bali-Hai Pier.
The Violet Line is intended to connect Pattaya with the Nong Prue area. It will also link to Pattaya Station.

The route aims to relieve traffic within Pattaya and make journeys more efficient.
The Red Line is planned as a longer-term project. It initially uses a section of the Green Line and then branches off towards Jomtien Beach.

From there it will run parallel to Jomtien Beach up to the area of the National Stadium. The route is part of the development under the “Neo Pattaya” concept.
Pattaya has grown significantly in recent years. The growth has increased traffic jams on major roads and in tourist zones.
City aims to reduce car traffic
The city has examined the feasibility and planning of the monorail system to expand public transport, reduce the use of private vehicles, make travel more convenient and safer, and support future urban development.
Mayor Poramese Ngamphichet chaired the meeting on the status of the EIA revision on Thursday at Pattaya City Hall. Project engineer Jadur Paensuwan presented the current report.

Those attending the meeting included Bancha Kulawanich, Secretary to the Mayor, Wachira Thongdeelert, Assistant to the Secretary to the Mayor, and representatives of responsible authorities and other organisations.
The city administration wants to carefully follow environmental procedures and give citizens and businesses the opportunity to participate. The planned public transport system is intended to connect important city areas and reduce traffic problems.
