PATTAYA, THAILAND – Pattaya has banned the parking of rental vehicles and business vehicles along Beach Road. Since August 1, authorities have strictly enforced the rule, logging 83 violations between August 1 and 11.
Control teams checked the red-and-white marked areas along the entire beach promenade. Most people followed the rules, but 83 violations were recorded.
Authorities fine and clamp offenders
Authorities issued fines, applied wheel clamps, and initiated arrests under standard procedures. Rental vehicles were the most common offenders, parked in no-parking zones both day and night.
Rental motorcycles particularly blocked parking spaces for residents and tourists.

During the meeting, officials addressed motorcycles parked along Beach Road and other streets for rental purposes. This made it harder for locals and tourists to find parking.
Complaints also targeted rental deck chairs, rubbish, and public drinking. Pattaya aims to ban all vehicles used for rental or business from Beach Road.
New parking rule effective August 1
The city issued an official regulation for 2026 to organise parking on Beach Road. It is based on the 2019 Parking Regulation Act for local administrative areas and Pattaya’s 2024 municipal order.
Deputy Mayor Wutthisak Roemkitjakarn chaired a meeting on Thursday afternoon at Pattaya City Hall. The meeting started at 13:30 in Room 231.
Representatives from Bang Lamung district, tourist police, traffic police, Pattaya police, the Chonburi provincial transport office, the Songthaew cooperative, and several city departments attended. Assistants to the mayor and the mayor’s working group also joined.
Confusing markings cause problems
Unclear red-and-white markings on footpaths have led to misunderstandings, according to authorities. Faded paint from lifted no-parking zones makes some drivers think the whole road is restricted.
Problems also arise when Songthaews pick up or drop off passengers outside designated stops. Cases where service vehicles received wheel clamps have added to the confusion.
More parking and smaller stops planned
Meeting participants suggested adding more motorcycle parking and clearer information about rules for different vehicle types. Officials are also reviewing more parking areas and reducing unnecessary no-parking zones on Beach Road.
Criteria for temporary rule relaxations on holidays and national holidays will be set. Wutthisak also proposed reducing the 15 existing Songthaew cooperative stops to five larger ones that can also accommodate buses.

Site inspection set for August 21
The remaining ten stops would take up less space and free up parking for tourists. Long-term parking at the stops will be banned.
The involved agencies plan to jointly inspect the area starting from the Dusit Curve section on Friday, August 21. The site inspection aims to gather data and determine further appropriate measures.
