PATTAYA, THAILAND – A 28-year-old Pakistani DJ was brutally assaulted by a group of more than ten motorbike riders outside a temple in South Pattaya, prompting a police investigation into the apparent random attack.
Violent assault near temple captured on CCTV
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of October 31, 2025, along Pattaya South Road in front of Wat Chai Mongkhon Royal Temple, directly opposite Pattaya City School 8. The victim, Mr. Mughal Usama, who is legally employed as a DJ at a local entertainment venue, sustained multiple injuries, including severe bruising and facial wounds.
CCTV footage submitted to police shows the DJ being surrounded by a group of men on motorcycles. The video captured how the gang forced him to pull over before repeatedly punching and kicking him. Witnesses can be heard urging the attackers to stop as one man used the victim’s helmet as a weapon before the group sped away.
Victim recalls unprovoked aggression
According to Mr. Usama, the confrontation began moments after he passed through a red light. Several riders approached and demanded that he stop, allegedly shouting, “ARE YOU LOOKING FOR TROUBLE?” The victim said the group beat him without warning, knocking him and his motorcycle to the ground.
“I’m terrified now,” he told local reporters later that evening. “I have to take this road every day to get to work and back home. I hope the authorities catch those responsible and take legal action quickly.”
He speculated that the assault could be linked to a minor road incident two days earlier, when a rider honked at him aggressively. He said he asked why but insisted the exchange did not escalate into an argument. It remains unclear whether that rider took part in the assault.
Police investigation underway
Following the report, the complaint was formally registered with Police Lieutenant Ittiporn Tangchutawitthaphap, Deputy Investigation Officer at the Pattaya City Police Station. Officers confirmed they are examining video evidence to identify the men involved.
The footage indicates that:
• Over 10 suspects on motorcycles participated in the attack.
• The victim was knocked to the ground and continuously assaulted while prone.
• The attackers ignored attempts by witnesses to intervene.
Police said they would use the CCTV images to track down each suspect. Authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests but emphasized that the assault is being treated as a serious criminal case.
Safety concerns in popular resort city
While such violent roadside attacks are uncommon in Pattaya, the case has raised concerns about street safety in an area frequented by both locals and foreign residents. Pattaya, one of Thailand’s most visited coastal cities, remains under the spotlight as law enforcement faces pressure to ensure public security, particularly in zones popular with tourists and expatriates.
Investigators have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in identifying the suspects.
“POLICE WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS KIND OF VIOLENCE ON CITY STREETS,”
an officer familiar with the case said, underscoring the department’s commitment to swift action.
