PATTAYA, THAILAND – A 52-year-old Indian tourist was taken to hospital after a suspected dispute over payment for escort services in South Pattaya.
Tourist hospitalized after early-morning incident
In the early hours of 27 December 2025, rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation reported around 5:30 a.m. that a foreign holidaymaker had been injured near the beachside entrance to Walking Street in South Pattaya. On site, responders found the 52-year-old Indian man, identified only as Raj, and transported him to Pattaya Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Witness describes confrontation near fast-food outlet
According to a 19-year-old witness, Pongpol Boonchid, the tourist had been involved in an altercation with several people. The confrontation reportedly began near a McDonald’s branch at the entrance to South Walking Street.
Dispute allegedly linked to escort payment
The witness told authorities that the incident appeared to be connected to a dispute over payment for allegedly provided escort services. The tourist was said not to have paid the agreed amount in full.
Victim remains silent as details stay unclear
The injured man initially declined to comment to the media, so his account of the incident was not yet publicly known. The exact sequence of events and the possible involvement of other individuals remained unclear.
Police highlight recurring conflicts in nightlife area
Police pointed out that conflicts related to nightlife and escort offerings could arise repeatedly in Pattaya’s popular entertainment district. Such disputes could escalate into physical confrontations, they warned.
Officers advise recovery before formal complaint
According to police, the tourist was advised to recover fully before filing an official complaint.
“The victim should first stabilize medically, then a formal complaint can be submitted.”
said police officers, after initial investigations.
The police stated they would only initiate legal action against suspected assailants after receiving an official complaint.
Investigators plan to review evidence
Planned steps included evaluating the witness’s statement, any potential video recordings from the Walking Street area, and the later testimony of the victim. Authorities announced they would pursue the case and take action against the alleged attackers if sufficient evidence emerged.
Safety advice for visitors to entertainment districts
Investigators emphasized that visitors to entertainment areas should make clear agreements and ensure full payment for agreed services to avoid conflicts. They noted that financial disputes, particularly around nightclubs and bars, could escalate quickly.
They recommended agreeing prices in advance, making payments in full and traceable form, involving police or security staff in case of conflict, and calling emergency services immediately in situations involving violence or threats.
