BANGKOK, Thailand – Police arrested an unidentified foreigner who allegedly threw an egg at a food delivery rider in Bang Na and hit him on the head, Thai TV reports. More victims came forward with accusations of attacks, property damage, theft, and unpaid restaurant bills.
The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday, August 9, on Soi Udomsuk in Bang Na district. Rider Teeraphon Phon-anan, 30, had just finished a delivery and tried to ride away on his motorcycle when a foreign man blocked the road.
Two days after egg attack, police make arrest
When the rider slowed down, the man threw an egg at him. He then allegedly slapped or hit the delivery driver before running into a nearby apartment building, laughing. Officers from Bang Na police station arrested the suspect on Tuesday afternoon, August 11.
Teeraphon went to the building management after the attack and asked for CCTV footage. Staff gave him the video, which he later handed to police.
CCTV footage leads to social media tip-off
The delivery rider also posted details of the incident on social media. That brought more people forward with their own complaints, according to available reports.
A security guard at the building reportedly told Teeraphon that several other delivery riders had already been attacked. All incidents allegedly involved the same foreign resident.
Investigators uncover past violence allegations
During the inquiry, officers found allegations of previous violent acts involving a brass knuckle. No details about those claims were published. Police have not announced separate charges for those allegations.
The building management accused the resident of damaging shared property. Staff at the complex also went to police with their complaints.
More victims: theft and dine-and-dash claims
Employees at a nearby shop accused the man of repeated thefts. Restaurant operators said he had eaten at their venues and left without paying the bills.
The investigation now covers complaints from delivery riders, building staff, shop employees, and restaurant owners. Police are reviewing each statement and the evidence submitted.
Police urge other victims to come forward
The identity and nationality of the arrested man have not been released. Final charges and possible penalties are still pending. Bang Na police are asking any other potential victims to come forward and file formal complaints.
