Cold Wave Forecast for Bangkok Next Week

Thai meteorologists warn of temperatures dropping below 20°C as cold air moves south

BANGKOK, THAILAND – Meteorological officials forecast a significant temperature drop across Thailand next week, with Bangkok possibly falling below 20°C for the first time this season.

Cold air mass enters Thailand

The Thai Meteorological Department analyzed the latest data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) on Friday, 15 November 2024, showing a marked shift in regional weather patterns. Experts confirmed that cold air from the north had begun advancing toward Thailand.

“Kaltluftmassen begannen am Freitag ihren Marsch nach Thailand.”

said Thai Meteorological Department, official report

The department recorded a gradual decrease in temperature across the northeast provinces and predicted strengthening winds accompanying the cold front.

Bangkok set for rare chill

Meteorologists projected that the capital city could face a temperature drop below 20°C. The most intense phase of the cold wave was expected between 20 and 23 November 2024.

“Es besteht die Möglichkeit, dass die Temperaturen in Bangkok unter 20°C fallen.”

Officials advised residents and tourists to prepare suitable clothing as the seasonal shift coincides with major outdoor festivals scheduled later in the month.

Cooler, drier conditions in the north

While southern Thailand was still seeing isolated showers, northern provinces recorded a decline in rainfall as cooler air spread across the region.

“Die Regionen erwarten weniger Niederschlag.”

Reduced precipitation improved travel conditions in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, prompting tourism authorities to anticipate increased hiking activity in mountain areas.

Winter season arriving on schedule

Weather specialists confirmed that the European model’s accuracy matched their own projections, suggesting that the 2024 Thai winter would arrive punctually and persist through early December.

“Die Winterbedingungen werden sich wie prognostiziert entwickeln.”

said Thai Meteorological Department, senior meteorologist

Officials noted that the cool season remains the most comfortable period for domestic and international visitors, with the cold front marking a clear end to the monsoon rains across central and northern Thailand.
