Violent clash in Pattaya
Shortly before 3:30 a.m. on 29 March 2026, a fight broke out at the entrance to Pattaya’s Walking Street. The Tourist Police received reports of a conflict between a foreign female tourist and a group of more than ten other people.
The confrontation took place near the old ferry pier and attracted numerous onlookers. Many filmed the incident on their phones and shared the videos online.
Police respond quickly
Police and other competent authorities rushed to the scene and found a large crowd gathered. The situation quickly escalated into a chaotic scuffle, during which several motorcycles were knocked over and damaged.
Tourist Police officers managed to bring the situation under control shortly afterwards. They took statements from four foreign female tourists, while other people involved left the area.
Cause of the altercation unclear
The main participant, a foreign woman, repeatedly claimed that her bag had been stolen during the fight. The exact reasons for the dispute remained unclear.
Officials pointed out that disputes in heavily frequented nightlife areas could spiral out of control very quickly. They stressed that anyone who felt threatened or became a victim of a crime should immediately contact the emergency services or the police.
Reactions from business owners
Similar incidents had already occurred in the district, according to local reports. Business owners along Walking Street repeatedly reported night-time conflicts and called for stronger police presence during peak hours.
They noted that Walking Street and its surroundings were major tourist centres that were particularly busy at night. Maintaining public order in the area was therefore treated as a high priority.
Current developments
According to the latest information, no serious injuries were recorded. Officers were reviewing video footage and examining witness statements in order to reconstruct the sequence of events in full.
Police stated that further details would be released once verified information was available and the ongoing investigation had progressed.
