BANGKOK, THAILAND – Bangkok was set to become a focal point of international amateur football in Southeast Asia on the weekend of 4–5 April 2026.
Four categories over one packed weekend
The German All Stars Bangkok invited teams to the 42nd International Far East Football Tournament (IFEFT), with 45 registered squads announced for the 2026 edition. The event was scheduled for Saturday, 4 April, and Sunday, 5 April 2026.
Matches began each day at 9 a.m. and ran across both days. Play took place in four age groups: Open, Veterans (Vets), Masters and Super Masters.
A total of 45 teams from around the world registered, including sides from Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates and Thailand. The organiser highlighted the breadth of participation across Southeast Asia and beyond.
One detail stood out in particular: FC Viktoria Wasseralfingen travelled in from Aalen in Baden-Württemberg. Their presence underlined that the tournament’s reputation was firmly established in Europe as well as in Asia.
Decades of tradition and returning teams
The Far East Football Tournament had brought together amateur teams from around the region for several decades. It was associated with sporting quality and a distinctive atmosphere on and off the pitch.
Many teams returned year after year. This continuity was seen as evidence that the competition fully deserved its standing as one of the strongest amateur football events in Asia.
Free admission and German flavour for fans
The tournament was designed as an experience not only for players but also for spectators. Entry for visitors was free of charge, opening the event to a broad local and international audience.
On site, German beer and German bratwurst were offered as part of the supporting programme. This long-standing tradition set the IFEFT apart from other tournaments and gave afternoons in the stands a special character.
More than just football
Beyond amateur football, visitors could expect a small entertainment programme. This included a live DJ on Sunday afternoon to keep the atmosphere lively between and after matches.
From its inception, the tournament had stood for international understanding and sporting spirit. These were values that the German All Stars Bangkok cultivated from the very beginning.
The fact that teams from such different countries and cultures met in Bangkok year after year made the IFEFT more than a sporting festival. It was also a social meeting point that reflected the diversity of the region.
Venue: Bangkok Patana School sports complex
The tournament took place at the sports grounds of Bangkok Patana School on Sukhumvit Soi 105 (Soi LaSalle). The expansive complex included four full-size 11-a-side football pitches, offering ideal conditions for an event of this size.
The school, located in the Bangna district, was accessible via the BTS Bang Na station and the Bang Na–Trat Expressway. This connection facilitated travel for both local residents and international visitors.
