BANGKOK, Thailand – TransNusa launched its first non-stop Jakarta-Bangkok flight on August 6, 2026. The route adds more than 130,000 seats per year between Indonesia and Thailand.
The airline will operate 14 flights a week on the Jakarta-Suvarnabhumi route. The inaugural flight was fully booked.
First flight arrives to full welcome
Flight 8B381 touched down at Suvarnabhumi Airport to a reception from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, TransNusa, airport operator AOT, and Indonesia’s ambassador to Thailand.
The first flight carried a full passenger load.
Airbus A320-200 on the route
TransNusa uses Airbus A320-200 aircraft on the Jakarta-Bangkok run. Each plane offers 174 seats. The airline plans 14 flights per week.
Bali-Phuket route in the pipeline
The Tourism Authority and TransNusa are preparing another direct connection — from Bali to Phuket. The link aims to connect key business and tourism hubs.
The expansion follows a signed Memorandum of Understanding to widen the flight network and improve air connectivity across Southeast Asia.
Nearly 379,000 Indonesian tourists in 2026
Indonesia ranks as a high-potential short-haul market for Thailand. From January 1 to August 2, 2026, 378,881 Indonesian tourists entered the country.
Their average stay lasted six days. 85 percent travelled independently. 53 percent had visited Thailand before.
Bangkok and Phuket top the list
Indonesian visitors prefer Bangkok, Songkhla, Chonburi, Phuket, and Krabi.
The Tourism Authority says the extra capacity will bring more than 130,000 additional seats from Indonesia each year.
Joint marketing campaign coming
The TAT plans to launch marketing campaigns with TransNusa to attract more Indonesian tourists. Officials expect the direct connection to draw higher-spending visitors and boost Thailand’s tourism economy.
