CHIANG MAI, THAILAND – A 24-year-old woman was fatally struck by a pickup truck while crossing Chiang-Mai-Phrao Road (Route 1001) in the early hours of 6 April, despite immediate rescue efforts and an ongoing police investigation.
Night-time crash on Route 1001
The collision occurred at about 2 a.m. on the inbound side of Chiang-Mai-Phrao Road. The Erawan Center 1669 in Chiang Mai received a report that a pickup had hit a person on the roadway.
Emergency teams were dispatched to the scene without delay. The woman died at the site despite efforts to assist her.
Vehicle heavily damaged, victim identified
At the scene, rescuers found a white pickup with significant damage to its front. The victim was a 24-year-old woman living in a village in San Sai district, Chiang Mai province.
According to the report, her first name was Sirinpa, while her family name was not made public. Police did not release any additional personal details.
Rescuers began first aid immediately
Officers and members of the Maejo Municipality rescue unit arrived and immediately started medical treatment for the injured woman. Their efforts did not succeed.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. The exact cause of death was to be determined through an autopsy.

Based on preliminary police information, the woman had been attempting to cross the road to reach an entertainment venue nearby when the collision with the pickup occurred. Investigators were examining the circumstances in detail.
