PATTAYA, THAILAND – Seven suspected impostors allegedly posed as narcotics officers in Nong Prue, threatened a couple with a gun and knife, and escaped on a green Yamaha Forza scooter.
Late-night raid on Nong Prue home
The incident occurred on 4 April at around 10:46 p.m. in the Nong Prue subdistrict of Pattaya. A group of seven people reportedly stormed a residential property and claimed to be officials.
The assailants said they belonged to the Thai Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB). According to the complaint, they threatened the residents with weapons and pressured them inside the house.
Yamaha Forza with Chon Buri plate taken
Police said the suspects left with a green Yamaha Forza motorcycle. The vehicle bore a Chon Buri licence plate with the number 5 กค 4177.
The group was alleged to have obtained the keys after issuing threats and then removed the motorcycle from the property. No other items were listed as stolen in the initial statements.
Victims give statements to Nong Prue police
The victims, a 30-year-old tattoo artist and motorcycle mechanic using the pseudonym “Ek”, and his 29-year-old girlfriend, referred to as “B”, later gave formal statements at Nong Prue Police Station. Both reported that the intruders were armed when they entered the home.
Ek said he had been living in fear since the incident. He told officers he believed the group was using claimed links to drug networks to intimidate people in the area.
Repair dispute seen as possible trigger
According to the background provided, Ek had earlier taken on a repair job for a couple from Jomtien. Disagreements over replacing a battery and an exhaust component were said to have angered the customers.
Ek suspected that this dispute might have played a role in the later events. So far, it remained only his own view that such a connection was possible, with no independent confirmation reported.
The man “Ex” and a suspicious motorcycle
Later, a man calling himself “Ex”, who claimed to be an ONCB officer, brought another motorcycle to Ek for repair. Ek found the vehicle suspicious because it resembled bikes typically seized in drug-related cases.
Despite his doubts, he accepted the work, saying he feared Ex might indeed be an official. He also pointed to financial pressures, as he was supporting two children aged eight and six.
Missing items and demands for “return”
Around one month before the raid, the motorcycle belonging to Ex and a CCTV camera in Ek’s care reportedly went missing. Ek admitted responsibility for their disappearance and offered compensation.
On the evening of 4 April, the seven-person group allegedly arrived and claimed they had come to retrieve the missing items. Instead, they were said to have threatened Ek and B, then left the scene with the Yamaha Forza.
Contact attempt and sudden silence
After the incident, Ek said he tried to contact Ex. At first, Ex had allegedly agreed to return the motorcycle.
Later, however, Ex reportedly stopped responding. This account formed part of Ek’s complaint and was being reviewed by investigators.
Probe into impersonation and armed robbery
Ek filed a report at Nong Prue Police Station following the raid. He also stated that he had previously been involved in drug-related activities but now wanted to leave that life behind for the sake of his children.
