Two Injured in Pattaya Motorbike Collision

One rider in critical condition after head-on crash in Soi Nern Plub Wan

PATTAYA, THAILAND – A serious motorcycle collision in Soi Nern Plub Wan injured two young men, one of whom was in critical condition in hospital.

Late-night crash on busy connecting road

The crash occurred late Monday night at around 22:00 in Soi Nern Plub Wan, near the entrance to Mab Yai Lia Soi 39/1. The street is a heavily used connecting route in Pattaya, with significant motorcycle traffic even at night. According to initial information from the authorities, two motorbikes became locked together in a head-on impact after one vehicle reportedly moved into the oncoming lane, leaving both riders seriously injured at high speed.

Rescue workers find wrecked motorcycles and injured riders

Emergency teams from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation arrived shortly after the emergency call. In the middle of the road they found a blue Honda Wave lying on its side, with its front wheel and front section completely destroyed and debris scattered over several metres. Nearby, paramedics discovered the rider, Mr Somrak Inthanil (28), unconscious on the ground with multiple abrasions and severe trauma, and transported him in critical condition to Patmakhun Hospital after providing first aid.

Second rider conscious but seriously hurt

A few metres away lay the second motorcycle, a black Yamaha, also with a heavily damaged front. Its rider, Mr Chakkrit Monthathip (30), was conscious and able to speak with rescue workers. He sustained multiple injuries to his body and, after initial treatment at the scene, was also taken to Patmakhun Hospital.

Witness recounts sudden lane crossing

An eyewitness, Mr Sirichai Inphuang, described the presumed sequence of events to police.

“Mr Chakkrit was riding normally in his own lane when Mr Somrak suddenly shot across the centre line onto his side at high speed.”

said Sirichai Inphuang, eyewitness.

According to his account, the two motorcycles then collided head-on with great force. Official confirmation of the precise course of the crash was still pending, and police treated the statement as an important lead in their investigation.

Police collect evidence and review CCTV

Officers from Nongprue Police Station documented the scene with photographs and secured traces on the roadway. They also reviewed nearby CCTV cameras to reconstruct the accident sequence in detail. Investigators stated that further steps and possible criminal proceedings would be based on the collected evidence, and that statements from both riders would be taken into account once their medical condition allowed formal questioning.

Authorities renew warning over night-time riding

Following the crash, authorities reiterated their warning to motorcycle riders, particularly during evening and night-time hours in Pattaya. Police stressed that violations of traffic rules and risky riding behaviour among motorcyclists were among the most common causes of serious and fatal accidents in the city. The investigation into the collision in Soi Nern Plub Wan was ongoing.
