PATTAYA, THAILAND – A 24-year-old motorcyclist died in a late-night collision at a rail crossing in Nong Prue, despite efforts by rescue workers to resuscitate her.
The night-time crash in Nong Prue
According to the Sawang Boriboon Dhammasathan Pattaya Rescue Center, the emergency call came in on 11 March at around 10:10 p.m.
The crash occurred on the road running alongside the railway tracks, just past Wat Thammasamakkhi in the direction of Huai Yai.
Rescue teams arrived to find a chaotic scene near the crossing in the Nong Prue area.
Two motorcycles had been involved in the collision on the narrow trackside road.
The impact left debris scattered close to the rail line and a roadside barrier.
Officers and medics worked side by side to secure the area and treat the injured.
Two motorcycles, two outcomes
Responders found two injured women at the scene, including Ms. Suthathip Chandam (32), who suffered abrasions and minor injuries.
She remained conscious but visibly shaken as medics provided first aid.
The second rider, Ms. Pornpaisri Hanchan (24), had sustained critical injuries.
Despite prolonged CPR attempts, she was pronounced dead at the scene after efforts to revive her failed.
Her body was later transferred for further procedures in line with standard protocols.
Sister’s account of speed and impact
Suthathip told officials she had been on her way to pick up her younger sister when the collision occurred at the junction near the rail crossing.
She said another motorcycle approached at high speed shortly before the crash.
According to her account, the other bike struck the side of her vehicle with considerable force.
The 24-year-old was thrown into the air and slammed into a roadside barrier.
The violent impact left her with fatal injuries before she could reach hospital care.
Police investigation under way
Officers from the Nong Prue Police Station documented the site by collecting evidence and photographing the crash scene.
They also took initial witness statements from those present.
Police said they were reviewing nearby CCTV footage.
The aim was to clarify the exact sequence of events and identify any potential traffic violations.
Findings would form the basis for any further legal steps.
Why Pattaya rail crossings are considered risky
Authorities noted that roads running along railway lines and at crossings in the region were often narrow and confusing.
At night, changing light conditions could make these stretches even more hazardous.
Officials stated they would continue the case under the usual legal standards once the cause of the crash had been reliably reconstructed.
They indicated that the outcome of the technical and video analysis would guide any subsequent measures.
