BANGKOK, THAILAND – A young woman fell into the clutches of a ruthless money lender and experienced a true nightmare, forced to finance her ill mother’s care through humiliation and sexual abuse.
Financial desperation leads into debt trap
On May 4, 2569, at 10:00 a.m., the 25-year-old victim identified as N.S. A found herself in acute financial distress because she had to support her mother, who had suffered a stroke, with 3,000 baht per month.
The 25-year-old works hard in a shop and as a waitress. She sent money to her sick mother each month, but after the stroke her income was no longer sufficient. In her desperation, she first borrowed 5,000 baht from an acquaintance named B. The interest was extremely high at 200 baht per day, quickly putting the young woman in a bind.
Nude photos as collateral for loans
When the debt rose to 10,000 baht, the 32-year-old lender demanded a despicable form of security. For a further payment, the victim had to send nude photos and intimate videos of herself to the man.
In addition to the daily interest of 400 baht, the money lender imposed exorbitant penalty fees: anyone who paid after 5:00 p.m. had to pay an extra 600 baht; if payment was more than one day late, an additional 1,000 baht was charged. Those who paid after midnight had to raise up to 800 baht extra, and B further threatened to sell the debt to other creditors.
Sexual abuse instead of interest payment
In early March, the young woman could no longer afford the daily installments for four days. The money lender then sought her out at her apartment and forced her to have sex as a substitute for the interest.
The victim submitted out of pure desperation and fear of the consequences. The perpetrator shamelessly exploited her financial helplessness to sexually abuse and humiliate her multiple times.
Threats to publish the images
When the woman resisted further sexual assaults in April, the terror began. The man threatened to publish her intimate recordings on the internet, to sell her debts to other creditors, and claimed that the actual lender was a police officer he could control.
Coordination of the threats took place via the Facebook page
