Tourist Police Track Down Lost Phone on Koh Larn

CCTV and local agencies in Pattaya quickly reunited a US visitor with his high-end smartphone

PATTAYA, THAILAND – Tourist police in Pattaya helped a US visitor recover his lost smartphone on Koh Larn after quickly tracing it via CCTV and coordinating with local authorities at Tawaen Beach.

Loss at Tawaen Beach

On 12 April, an American tourist lost his mobile phone during a visit to Tawaen Beach on the island of Koh Larn near Pattaya. According to the report, the device was a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The loss occurred while the visitor was spending time on the beach. The incident was later reported to local tourist authorities on the island.

Report to the Tourist Police

The 32-year-old Raymond Deleon contacted officers at the tourist service point on Koh Larn to file a report about the missing phone. He stated that he had misplaced the smartphone during his stay on the beach.

Officers recorded the details of the loss and began coordinating the search. The information provided by Deleon helped to narrow down the likely area where the device had gone missing.

Review of Surveillance Cameras

Tourist police then worked with the island’s CCTV control center to determine the probable location of the loss. Footage showed that the phone had fallen near a tent area on the beach.

Based on the images, officers were able to identify the specific section of Tawaen Beach where the device had dropped. This allowed local staff to focus their search on a limited zone.

Found by Health Officials

The smartphone was later found and securely kept by employees of the public health service. The device remained in the custody of the authorities until it could be handed over to the responsible office.

By keeping the phone under official supervision, the public health staff ensured that the high-value device stayed protected. This step also simplified the later verification and return process.

Return via Pattaya City Office

For the handover, officers coordinated with the Pattaya City Office on Koh Larn to return the phone to its owner. After an inspection, Deleon confirmed that the device was indeed his lost smartphone.

With the confirmation completed, the phone was officially returned to the US visitor. The cooperation between tourist police and city officials brought the case to a swift conclusion.

Thanks to Police and Helpers

The tourist expressed his appreciation to the tourist police and the involved health officials for their assistance. The case illustrated how the combination of surveillance technology and local authorities could support visitors in loss incidents.

Local agencies highlighted the role of visible service points and coordinated procedures at busy tourist spots such as Tawaen Beach. The incident underscored how structured lost-and-found handling can improve the experience of travelers.
