Thailand launches ‘Trusted Thailand’ safety seal

New certification aims to rebuild tourist confidence and attract Chinese visitors after negative headlines

BANGKOK, THAILAND – Thailand has launched a new certification to restore global traveler confidence and highlight its commitment to safety standards.

Tourism leaders unite behind the new seal

On Thursday, Tourism Minister Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn announced the nationwide rollout of the ‘Trusted Thailand’ seal during a press conference in Bangkok aimed at reversing recent negative publicity.

“Sicherheit und Vertrauen sind entscheidend für Reiseentscheidungen”

said Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, Tourism Minister.

The ministry coordinated with the Royal Thai Police, major hotel chains, public health agencies, and private sector partners including Trip.com, Agoda, and Grab to certify businesses across the country.

Certification system details

Under the program, businesses could apply for the certification through www.tourismthailand.org/trustedthailand beginning in late 2025. According to Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), each applicant will be evaluated in four safety-related categories.

“Das Zertifikat deckt vier Schlüsselbereiche ab”

said Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor.

These include:

  • General safety and hygiene measures
  • Secure payment systems
  • Multilingual communication readiness
  • Transport safety and connectivity

At least 5,000 hotels, restaurants and attractions are expected to join the initiative, gaining prominent visibility on Trip.com and TAT marketing platforms.

Chinese visitors in focus

Between January and October 2025, Thailand recorded 3.7 million arrivals from China, with efforts now intensifying to rebuild confidence within this key market.

“Negative Nachrichten haben Thailands Image bei chinesischen Reisenden beeinträchtigt.”

said Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor.

Yang Xiaolong, Cultural Attaché of the Chinese Embassy, supported the partnership, highlighting its diplomatic significance.

“Meilenstein in den 50 Jahren diplomatischer Beziehungen.”

said Yang Xiaolong, Cultural Attaché.

Tourism recovery and competition

Official figures from TAT showed that in the first ten months of 2025, 26.7 million international visitors entered Thailand. Neighboring competitors such as Vietnam and Malaysia continue to target similar tourism markets.

“Dieses Projekt wird das Vertrauen stärken und Wiederholungsbesuche fördern.”

said Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, Tourism Minister.

Impact on travelers

Travelers will soon be able to look for the blue and white ‘Trusted Thailand’ logo across certified establishments nationwide, signaling compliance with verified safety and quality criteria. The scheme is expected to cover all aspects of visitor experience—from hotel bookings to shopping areas—reinforcing a sector that serves as the economic backbone of Thailand.
