BANGKOK, THAILAND – Authorities have issued a severe weather warning across 43 provinces, urging vigilance against flash floods, landslides, and dangerous sea conditions due to a powerful monsoon system and strong southwest winds, effective immediately until July 3rd.

A monsoon trough hovering over the north and upper northeast is meeting a strengthening southwest monsoon. The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) forecasts heavy to very heavy rainfall, which could cause dangerously rapid water level rises.
The central region and the west coast of southern Thailand are expected to experience intense precipitation. In the upper Andaman Sea, wave crests are predicted to reach two to three meters.

Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), Theerapat Kachamat, has placed all affected disaster prevention teams on 24-hour standby. Twelve provinces in the north, including Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, and Nan, are under close observation.
In the northeast, authorities are monitoring twelve provinces such as Loei, Udon Thani, and Nong Khai. The warning for the central region covers eleven areas, stretching from Kanchanaburi in the west to Trat on the southeastern Gulf coast.

Eight provinces along the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea in the south are on alert. Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun face heightened risks of flash floods and slope erosion.
Disaster prevention agencies are paying particular attention to four provinces on the Andaman Sea’s west coast due to strong winds and rough seas: in Ranong, the districts of Muang, Suk Samran, and Kapoe are affected; in Phang Nga, Ko Yao, Takua Thung, Thai Mueang, Takua Pa, and Khura Buri; all districts on Phuket; and in Krabi, Muang, Khlong Thom, Ko Lanta, Nuea Khlong, and Ao Luek.

All coastal authorities have been instructed to display prominent warning signals and strictly enforce swimming bans. If conditions deteriorate further, all boat traffic may be suspended.
The DDPM urges sailors and boat operators in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand to exercise extreme caution. With waves reaching two to three meters, even experienced fishermen face perilous journeys.

Disaster prevention officials are adopting a stringent approach: natural tourist attractions such as caves, waterfalls, and canyons are under constant surveillance. Areas deemed dangerous will be immediately closed off.
Authorities are preparing emergency shelters for potential evacuees, fully stocked with food, drinking water, and essential supplies, to ensure no one is left without aid in critical situations.

The public can access information and request assistance 24/7 through the “Thai Disaster Alert” app, available for iOS and Android. The official LINE account @1784DDPM and the hotline 1784 are also continuously operational.
All disaster prevention centers in at-risk provinces will remain on high alert until July 3rd. Theerapat Kachamat is urging provincial administrations to promptly implement any warnings from the meteorological service through concrete closures and evacuations.
