BANGKOK, THAILAND – Thailand’s Energy Ministry confirmed there would be no diesel price increase on Saturday evening, rejecting rumors of a jump to 60 baht per liter.
False information about diesel prices
The spokesperson of the Energy Ministry, Wiraphat Kiatfeungfu, dismissed reports of a possible price hike. The current diesel price stood at 38.94 baht per liter.
According to the ministry, future price movements depended on global market conditions, compensation from the Oil Price Fund and the country’s economic situation.
Rumors of a price increase
In recent days, numerous false claims about an impending diesel price rise had circulated online. The messages alleged that a higher rate would take effect at 6 p.m. on the same day.
The ministry stated that these reports were not true and had no official basis. The public was urged to rely on information from government agencies or other trusted sources to avoid falling for misinformation.
Public concern
The spread of the rumors had already caused unnecessary panic among parts of the population. Many people feared they would not have enough fuel available.
The ministry stressed that there was no reason for such fears and said the situation remained under control.
Call for caution
Wiraphat Kiatfeungfu appealed to citizens not to share unverified reports.
“Please do not forward unconfirmed information, as this could lead to a rush on petrol stations.”
said Wiraphat Kiatfeungfu, Energy Ministry spokesperson.
Authorities were working to stabilize energy costs and keep the public informed about real developments in the fuel market.
