Meen requested a transfer via an unfamiliar QR code. The call was cut off before any money was sent, and the family never heard from him again.
The family claims Meen had over 300,000 baht in savings, but both his money and personal documents are now missing.
Scam Allegations and Public Scrutiny
As news of Meen’s death spreads, Thai netizens uncover a post linking his name to a mule account in a call centre scam. This fuels speculation about his possible involvement in illegal activities.
Meen’s parents strongly deny these claims. “Our son would never do anything illegal,” they insist. They believe he may have been tricked by a criminal gang and forced to flee abuse before his death.
Calls for Investigation and Official Response
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is now working with the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Cambodia to investigate. They are also looking into claims that a local hospital refused Meen medical treatment, as alleged by the IMF member who found him.
The family’s search for the truth continues, as they prepare for funeral rites in their home province and await answers about what really happened to Marthacharn Yorsaeng.
