BANGKOK, THAILAND – Thai Airways announced the resumption of direct flights between Bangkok and Amsterdam, set to begin on July 1, strengthening European connections and improving travel options and connectivity for passengers.
Amsterdam Route Returns
Thai Airways will recommence direct service on the Bangkok-Amsterdam route starting July 1. This move is aimed at boosting the airline’s presence in Europe and providing enhanced convenience and better connecting flights for travelers. The decision reflects the growing demand for travel and the airline’s commitment to meeting passenger needs.
Kittiphong Sansomboon, Chief Commercial Officer at THAI, stated that the flight resumption underscores the airline’s dedication to serving increasing passenger demand and elevating the travel experience. He emphasized the airline’s goal of making travel more comfortable and accessible for its customers.
Announcement at Customer Festival
The revival of the route was announced by THAI during its annual customer appreciation event, “Rak Khun Tao Fah 2026,” held recently at the Emsphere. This event served as a platform to thank loyal customers, Royal Orchid Plus members, and business partners for their continued support over the airline’s 66-year history.

During the four-day event, THAI also introduced exclusive travel packages through Royal Orchid Holidays and highlighted enhanced benefits for its Royal Orchid Plus loyalty program members. Promotional campaigns were launched to further engage customers. Additionally, THAI Sky Shop, THAI Sky Duty Free, and Puff & Pie showcased their products to attendees.
Thousands of Prizes and Banking Partners
The event featured a significant giveaway, with over 3,000 prizes valued at more than 3 million Baht. Among the top prizes were business-class flights to Amsterdam. The promotions were supported by nine financial institutions that partnered with the airline for the event.
Historic Milestone for THAI
A significant milestone occurred on June 1 when Pannathon “Bam” Thanrungrueangchai became the first female pilot in Thai Airways’ over 66-year history to fly flight TG564 from Bangkok to Hanoi using an Airbus A320-200. Trained at the King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang and the Asia Aviation Academy, she previously served as a co-pilot for more than four years.
THAI expressed hope that her achievement will inspire more women to pursue careers in aviation. However, some social media users noted that other airlines have had female pilots for a longer period.
