Police Arrest Suspect in Bangkok Security Guard Murder
Police in Bangkok have apprehended a man accused of fatally stabbing a condominium security guard in the Huai Khwang district during the early hours of 6 September.
The victim, identified as Mr. Somdet, a private security officer in his late 30s, was discovered outside the condominium entrance where he worked, suffering from multiple knife wounds. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
Initial witness accounts described the attacker as a short-haired man with a tattoo on his right arm, wearing a black T-shirt featuring a cannabis motif and blue jeans. Witnesses reported that he fled the scene in a black Isuzu vehicle.
Following an intensive investigation, officers from Sutthisan Police Station tracked down and arrested the suspect, identified only as “Pop.” Authorities recovered clothing believed to have been worn during the attack, the knife matching the murder weapon, and the vehicle used in the escape.
During police questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to the killing. He has been charged with carrying a weapon in public without reasonable cause and murder.
Pol Lt Col Ekachisit Meesuk, deputy inspector at Sutthisan Police Station, confirmed that the suspect has been transferred to investigators for formal legal proceedings.
