Police Seize Fake Lubricants and Sex Toys

Raids in Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani

Consumer protection police raided two premises in Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani, seizing counterfeit lubricants and sex toys sold illegally online. The operation was led by the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) under orders from Pol Maj Gen Patthanasak Bubphasuwan.

Items Seized in Operation

Officers confiscated 853 bottles of lubricant labelled for genital use, 734 sex toys, and related documents. The raids followed complaints that counterfeit products and prohibited items were being sold through social media platforms.

Suspect Identified

The suspect, identified as Mr. Pruen, 34, admitted responsibility. He told investigators he had set up a company with friends to distribute the products, claiming they were meant for sexual education. He also revealed involvement in overseas businesses designing sexual wellness devices and an attempt to expand into the Thai market.

Legal Charges and Health Concerns

Authorities charged him with selling counterfeit medical devices and distributing obscene materials. Pol Maj Gen Patthanasak emphasized that lubricants used on the body are legally classified as medical devices and must comply with safety standards. Some seized products carried expired medical registration numbers to mislead buyers.

Warning from Authorities

Police warned that unregulated production of such products poses health risks. Illegal distributors were urged to cease operations immediately or face strict legal consequences.
