PATTAYA, THAILAND – A dream was shattered in minutes when a thief stole a recently purchased motorcycle in Pattaya.
In the early hours of Thursday night, a man in Pattaya stole a motorbike that a 36-year-old owner had acquired just two months prior. The owner had intended to restore the Honda Wave 100S, but had not yet taken it for a single ride. The machine is now completely missing.
Video Shows Suspect Pushing Motorcycle from Apartment Complex
Surveillance cameras at an apartment in Soi Phothisarn 8 captured the brazen theft late on the evening of June 18, around 10:30 PM. The footage shows a man wearing a full-face helmet, long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and sneakers, loitering inconspicuously near the parking area.
He then seized his opportunity when the old motorcycle was found unlocked. The suspect silently pushed the vehicle off the premises and disappeared into the darkness with his loot. Neither the perpetrator nor the machine have reappeared.
Owner Discovers Loss in Early Morning Hours
Pongsakorn Phothong returned to his apartment on June 19 around 2:40 AM and immediately noticed the gaping void in his parking spot. “I came back to the apartment and discovered the motorcycle was gone,” he told The Pattaya News.
The 36-year-old reacted quickly and requested to review the surveillance camera footage. “I asked to check the CCTV recordings and saw the suspect pushing my motorcycle out of the property,” Pongsakorn elaborated.
Dream on Wheels Hadn’t Moved a Meter
The loss has hit the owner hard, not only financially but especially emotionally. Pongsakorn had paid approximately 8,000 Baht to a friend two months ago to fulfill a lifelong dream. He had planned to restore the older machine and customize it.
However, that never came to pass. Due to damaged tires and pending repairs, he had not ridden the motorcycle even once. The restored Honda Wave 100S remains an unfulfilled hope, and the perpetrator is still at large.
Police Hunt Man in Full-Face Helmet
Based on the footage, police estimate the suspect’s height to be between 165 and 170 centimeters. The helmet makes positive identification difficult, but investigations are already underway. Pongsakorn intends to file an official report shortly.
He hopes the officers will quickly apprehend the thief and return the still-unused machine to him. There has been no specific signal from the police indicating any hot leads thus far.
