Police probed bottle attack on Walking Street near Ice Bar

PATTAYA, THAILAND – A 27-year-old Russian tourist was seriously injured in the head in the early hours of November 20, 2025, after an apparent glass bottle attack on Walking Street in South Pattaya.

Late-night assault near Ice Bar

According to authorities, the incident occurred at around 03:50 a.m. near the well-known Ice Bar on the busy entertainment strip. The tourist, described as covered in blood, shirtless and wearing only shorts, reportedly ran to personnel from Pattaya Special Affairs and urgently asked for help.

Members of the Special Affairs unit were the first to encounter the badly injured man. His name was initially withheld for security reasons.

Serious head wound treated at the scene

Volunteer responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation provided first aid at the scene. The man had a deep laceration to the scalp with heavy bleeding, as well as visible bruising to his face.

After he was stabilised, the tourist was taken to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment. Detailed information on his condition was not immediately available, but the injuries were considered serious.

Victim reports unprovoked group attack

According to the Special Affairs team, the Russian national said he had been attacked without any provocation by a group of muscular Thai men.

“I was attacked without any provocation by a group of muscular Thai men who hit me on the head with a bottle before I could escape and seek help.”

said the victim, according to the Special Affairs team.

Police review CCTV and hunt suspects

Pattaya City Police launched an investigation during the night. Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from the area around the Ice Bar and collected additional evidence to identify the suspected attackers.

Charges were expected once the suspects were located and arrested, police sources said.

Safety in Pattaya’s nightlife under scrutiny

Pattaya is one of Thailand’s best-known tourist destinations and attracted numerous visitors from around the world, including many from Russia. Walking Street is particularly known for its bars, clubs and nightlife running into the early morning hours.

Local officials said violent incidents involving foreign holidaymakers were relatively rare but continued to raise concerns about safety in the city’s entertainment zones. Especially critical were periods with heavy alcohol consumption, the early morning closing hours of venues, and areas with a high density of visitors and bars.

Investigation continues, motives unclear

The police investigation into the attack on the Russian tourist was ongoing. No official indications about possible motives or background to the assault were initially made public.
