PATTAYA, THAILAND – Thai police raided a luxury villa in Huay Yai, a suburb of Pattaya, detaining two Taiwanese men and seizing drugs and equipment used for illegal parties.
Night raid in Pattaya’s luxury suburb
The operation took place on 29 October 2025 after residents reported suspicious activity in the quiet residential area. Acting on their tip, Pattaya Police Chief Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyoo and Chonburi Immigration Chief Pol. Col. Naphatphong Khositsuriyamanee led more than a dozen officers to the villa. They carried a search warrant issued by the Pattaya Provincial Court (No. 204/2568).
The team’s arrival turned the calm atmosphere of Huay Yai into the scene of a full police operation. Officers entered the property prepared for resistance but encountered two men who cooperated when a translator explained the search order.
Findings point to drug preparation and sales
Inside, police discovered clear evidence of an active party-drug setup. They confiscated 16.65 grams of crystalline ketamine, over 180 resealable plastic bags, a digital scale, and three metal containers used for handling and selling narcotics. The most unusual find was six large tanks of nitrous oxide—known as laughing gas—accompanied by 25 balloons for inhalation. Investigators also seized six iPhones believed to contain communication records.
Confession and ongoing investigation
The suspects, both 33 years old and identified as Mr. Wen-Chi and Mr. Wen-Lin, admitted buying ketamine from another Taiwanese citizen who has not yet been found. They told officers they planned private drug-fueled parties at the villa, mixing ketamine and nitrous oxide. The combination is increasingly common in entertainment districts, despite serious health risks such as loss of consciousness and nerve damage.
Police escorted the two men and the confiscated evidence to the Huay Yai Police Station, where charges of drug possession and intent to distribute psychoactive substances were filed. In Thailand, such charges can lead to lengthy prison sentences, especially for foreign nationals.
Thailand’s hard line on recreational drugs
The operation underscored Thailand’s uncompromising stance on narcotics. Officers said they aim to curb the rise of small-scale drug parties among foreign residents and tourists.
“THIS IS A WARNING THAT WE WILL NOT TOLERATE DRUG USE OR TRAFFICKING—NO MATTER WHO IS INVOLVED,”
stated police during the operation.
Authorities in resort cities like Pattaya have intensified cooperation between police and immigration units to tackle both drug distribution and visa-related offences. The focus has expanded beyond traditional narcotics to newer substances such as nitrous oxide, now classified under strict control.

Police officials emphasized that what may be treated as a minor offense elsewhere is regarded in Thailand as a serious crime, carrying penalties that can include imprisonment.

said one senior officer after the arrests, reaffirming the government’s message to the international community and its visitors.
