PATTAYA, THAILAND – Police launched an investigation after a 25-year-old woman was found dead from a stab wound in her chest inside a Bang Lamung apartment early Monday morning.
Discovery and Immediate Response
At 6:40 a.m. on Monday, officers from Bang Lamung Police Station responded to an emergency call from Apartment 104 in Bang Lamung district. Rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation discovered the victim in the bathroom with no vital signs. A 20-centimetre fillet knife was recovered beside the body and secured as evidence.
“The young woman had a single, deep stab wound in the upper chest,”
said a local police officer.
Despite repeated resuscitation efforts at the scene, authorities confirmed the woman died before medical personnel arrived.
Boyfriend in Custody
The woman’s 35-year-old boyfriend, Ek, was present when police entered the residence. According to investigators, the couple had been in a relationship for six months and were co-workers at a business in North Pattaya. Officers detained Ek for questioning following discrepancies in his timeline.
He told detectives the argument began after a late-night text exchange.
“She asked me for a kiss, but I was at work,”
said Ek, the detained boyfriend.
He admitted that the quarrel escalated when he commented on her revealing clothing, after which she locked herself inside the apartment.
CCTV Timeline and Door Forcing
Security footage reviewed by police showed the woman entering the apartment at 4:50 a.m. before locking the door. Ek arrived about 20 minutes later and remained outside for over an hour.
“I made 20 calls and kept knocking,”
said Ek.
Records show he eventually called a locksmith at 6:07 a.m., leading to the discovery of the body soon after entry.
Ongoing Investigation
Detectives under Sergeant Wongsathon Makkhanan confirmed that no conclusion had been reached about whether the case involved self-harm or foul play.
“We have not yet drawn any final conclusions,”
said Detective Sergeant Wongsathon Makkhanan.
Police indicated the deceased had been undergoing treatment for depression, a factor complicating the investigation. The Forensic Science Division collected the knife and blood samples for analysis. The body will be transported to Bangkok for autopsy to determine the precise cause and angle of the wound.
