PATTAYA, THAILAND – A thief posing as a casual customer stole valuables worth 150,000 Baht from a noodle shop owner’s upstairs bedroom on 12 November in Bang Lamung district.
Daytime theft inside Bang Lamung restaurant
Police officers from Bang Lamung Station confirmed the theft on 12 November, after Anchana Rattanapisankun, aged 40, reported missing items valued at 150,000 Baht from her home above her restaurant. CCTV footage from 12:30 p.m. showed a woman entering through the rear door and staying in the private quarters for 15 minutes.
“She looked completely normal, like a customer,”
said Anchana Rattanapisankun, Restaurant Owner.
The footage recorded the suspect examining drawers and cabinets in the upstairs bedroom before placing gold amulets worth 65,000 Baht, diamond rings, and an iPad into a plastic bag. Detectives later confirmed that the woman wore a black T-shirt, had short black curly hair, and carried a shopping bag.
Suspect remains calm after theft
When the suspect returned downstairs, she spoke directly to the victim. Anchana Rattanapisankun, unaware of the theft, continued her work behind the counter.
“She asked if the shop was open,”
said Anchana Rattanapisankun, Restaurant Owner.
Investigators said the woman’s behavior remained composed during the encounter and that she exited the shop unnoticed. The total damage amounted to 150,000 Baht.
Police investigation underway
Officers from Bang Lamung Police Station launched an investigation using CCTV footage that clearly shows the woman’s face. Patrol teams have reviewed multiple leads across Pattaya City.
“We are following several strong leads,”
said Unnamed Police Investigator, Bang Lamung Station.
Authorities requested assistance from nearby shop owners to report any sightings of a woman aged between 40 and 45 matching the description. The investigation remained active as of 13 November.
Business warning in central Pattaya
Following the theft, Anchana Rattanapisankun issued a warning to other local entrepreneurs about leaving areas unattended during business hours.
“You must not leave anyone unsupervised,”
said Anchana Rattanapisankun, Restaurant Owner.
Police officers urged businesses in Chonburi Province with living spaces above their shops to install additional locks, alarms, and surveillance systems, emphasizing clear separation between commercial and private spaces.
