PATTAYA, THAILAND – City authorities in Pattaya tightened safety measures for residents and tourists ahead of the New Year period, adopting additional controls for traffic, order and accident prevention.
City leadership sets security priorities
Deputy Mayor Wuttisak Rermkijakarn chaired the administration meeting in meeting room 231 at Pattaya City Hall on 24 December, joined by Korn Phatthanasin, assistant to the mayor, Police Lieutenant Colonel Jeerawat Sukonthasap and other responsible officials. The discussion focused on maintaining order and safety during the extended New Year holidays, with particular emphasis on preventing accidents on land and at sea as the city traditionally attracted large numbers of holidaymakers at this time.
Traffic controls and maritime safety reinforced
The administration announced increased staffing and strict enforcement of existing regulations in several critical areas. Special weight was placed on maritime safety, with passengers to be consistently urged to wear life jackets before boarding vessels, and routes on land and water to be closely monitored.
Crackdown on illegal parking and unlicensed vendors
Officials reviewed measures to regulate public spaces, targeting illegal parking and unlicensed sidecar vendors whose stalls could block streets and hinder emergency vehicles. Oversight of these activities was to be significantly intensified around the festive period to keep key access routes clear and support rapid emergency response.
Call for coordinated action among agencies
“During the New Year festival, Pattaya will experience a strong influx of residents and tourists. I call on all units to closely coordinate their work, especially on safety, traffic management and accident prevention on land and on the water, in order to create the highest possible level of confidence and security for all visitors.”

Preparations for Pattaya Countdown 2026 MONOMAX
The adopted measures were directly linked to the large-scale “PATTAYA COUNTDOWN 2026 MONOMAX” event scheduled from 29 to 31 December at Central Pattaya Beach and on Koh Larn. Very large crowds were expected for concerts, light shows and fireworks, prompting authorities to plan heightened police presence in beach and downtown areas and close coordination between the city administration, police and other services.
