PATTAYA, THAILAND – Pattaya launched a free, large-scale swimming program for children and teenagers to promote health, sporting potential and vital water skills.
City opens youth swimming project
On 27 November 2025, Deputy Mayor Krishna Boonsawat formally opened the “2025 Pattaya Youth Swimming Activity Project” at the multipurpose building of Pattaya City School 11 (Secondary Demonstration School Pattaya). The ceremony was attended by Banlue Kullavanij, president of the Pattaya City Council, Phairawat Aromcheun, council vice president, council members, the council president’s secretariat group, agency heads, school directors of municipal schools and other responsible officials.
Three months of free training
The program was organized by the Children and Youth Activities Division of Pattaya’s Education Department and was free of charge for all participants. Swimming lessons took place at the Pattaya City School 11 pool from 20 November 2025 to 27 February 2026, with instruction on training days scheduled from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Goals: health, sport and social skills
Through the project, the city aimed to involve young people more in meaningful leisure and sports activities and to expand their sporting potential in swimming. The initiative was also intended to improve physical health and fitness among children and adolescents. In the long term, Pattaya said it wanted to encourage good habits, positive behaviour, moral thinking and the ability to
“live happily and productively in society.”

Deputy mayor highlights swimming as life skill
In his speech, Krishna Boonsawat described the project as an important step for the city.
“This activity is a very good sign. It is encouraging to see that the youth of Pattaya, our most valuable future human resource, are being given the opportunity to develop their abilities through sport,”
said Boonsawat, deputy mayor. He stressed that swimming was not only healthy but also offered life-saving skills:
“The students will learn to swim safely, improve their technique and gain the confidence to be able to help themselves if they should ever be in danger in the water,”
said Boonsawat.
Call for perseverance and future support
The deputy mayor urged participants to continue their training consistently.
“I encourage each of you to keep practising and never stop improving your abilities. The Pattaya City Administration will always cheer you on and is fully committed to supporting meaningful activities like this in the future as well,”
said Boonsawat. According to the administration, the project was designed to benefit both the younger generation and the country as a whole.
Pattaya builds its profile as a sports city
The swimming project formed part of ongoing efforts to position Pattaya as a leading “Sports City.” The administration linked the initiative with urban development, tourism and active youth promotion. Its stated goal was to help develop healthy, well-educated and responsible young citizens who could play a key sporting and social role in Pattaya’s future.
