PATTAYA, THAILAND – The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) launched an intensive three-day training programme in Pattaya to strengthen Thailand’s national cyber defence capabilities ahead of a major national simulation scheduled for December.
Advanced training for a digital frontline
The Advanced Pre-exercise and Academic Training phase of Thailand’s National Cyber Exercise 2025 (NCX 2025) brought together 120 cybersecurity professionals from 90 public and private organisations across the country. The event took place from October 27 to 29 at the Garden Cliff Resort and Spa in Chonburi Province.
The training was formally opened by Air Vice Marshal Amorn Chomchoey, a member of the NCSA committee. He praised the growing cooperation between domestic and international experts in improving Thailand’s readiness to counter escalating cyber threats. According to Amorn, the programme served as a platform to “build technical capacity, share experiences, and strengthen collaboration between public and private sectors.”
Preparation for a live national simulation
The current phase built on a Basic Training held in September, moving participants toward complex, hands-on scenarios. The exercises are designed to prepare teams for the Live Cyber Attack Simulation Exercise planned for December 8–9, which will test real-time detection and response to simulated national-scale incidents.
Air Vice Marshal Jedet Kuhakongkit, Assistant Secretary-General of the NCSA, explained that the advanced phase covers deep technical fields, including:
• Operation and management of the NCX 2025 platform
• Cyber incident investigation using CTS and Elastic systems
• Building Threat Intelligence databases through MISP frameworks
Jedet said these sessions aim to reinforce the expertise required for multidisciplinary incident response and to cultivate a collaborative cybersecurity community that can act swiftly in crisis situations.
International cooperation and knowledge exchange
Experts from Thailand and abroad contributed to lectures and workshops, ensuring participants gained exposure to both domestic policies and global best practices. The NCSA emphasised that partnership with international networks is critical to managing fast-evolving digital risks that transcend national borders.
A panel discussion titled “Cyber Threats from Credential Leaks and Mitigation Strategies” highlighted the dangers posed by stolen user credentials — a recurring vulnerability exploited worldwide. Speakers underlined that compromised data not only threatens individual privacy but could undermine national infrastructures if left unchecked.
National priorities for a secure digital future
Held annually, Thailand’s National Cyber Exercise is a cornerstone of the country’s National Cybersecurity Strategy. Its purpose is to evaluate the nation’s cyber resilience by testing technologies, protocols, and human response capabilities at both strategic and operational levels.
By combining academic, technical, and live components, the NCSA aims to foster a secure, safe, and sustainable digital environment for Thailand’s growing online economy. The agency described NCX 2025 as a crucial step toward developing a resilient cyber workforce capable of defending critical information infrastructure and ensuring public trust in digital systems.
