PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya will host its International Film Festival from August 22 to 30, 2026, pushing for UNESCO Creative City status while boosting tourism and global attention.
The nine-day event aims to bring together residents, local communities, young people, partner networks and film industry representatives. Organisers also want to encourage more film-sector players to take part.
City hall prepares the ground
Mayor Poramese Ngamphichet led a preparatory meeting at Pattaya City Hall on August 7, 2026. The meeting took place in room 242 of the city hall building.
Officials from the city administration, state agencies and participating organisations attended. They discussed the festival’s format, concept and public relations strategy.
Venue design and equipment on the table
The agenda also covered the design of event venues and their equipment. Participants prepared measures for traffic management, security and cleanliness.
All involved departments are expected to coordinate their work. This should ensure the festival runs smoothly and benefits both residents and tourists.
Pattaya aims for film city status
With the festival, Pattaya wants to align its film activities with the criteria and guidelines of the UNESCO Creative Cities network. Film initiatives are meant to improve the city’s image and promote tourism.
The event is part of broader plans to develop Pattaya’s creative economy and strengthen its international reputation.
