PATTAYA, THAILAND – Hundreds of thousands of visitors were expected along Pattaya Beach Road for the Pattaya International Fireworks Festival honoring Her Royal Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
Fireworks tribute and international displays
This year’s motto, “The Light of Eternal Loyalty,” placed loyalty to the Queen Mother at the center of the program. Several international teams from Malaysia, Thailand, Germany, Finland, the Philippines and the United Kingdom presented their fireworks shows over Pattaya Bay, accompanied by cultural performances and a symphony orchestra show.
The Pattaya Beach Road was closed to vehicle traffic from 3 p.m. to make room for the expected crowds. Many Thais secured their spots on the beach in the morning, while official program points began around 6 p.m.
Road closures, parking zones and long delays
Because of the exceptionally high number of visitors, travelers from Bangkok and surrounding provinces had to expect significantly longer travel times. Authorities advised against driving large vehicles into central Pattaya.
Instead, 16 free parking zones were available, including at shopping centers such as Central Pattaya and Terminal 21 as well as at temples like Wat Chai. From there, visitors were urged to continue on foot or use pre-arranged shuttles or motorcycle taxis to reach the pedestrian area, as Baht buses could get stuck in traffic and app-based taxis might involve waiting times of several hours.
Heat, hydration and alcohol restrictions
Even in the evening, tropical humidity in Pattaya remained high, and visitors were urged to carry sufficient water and wear light, breathable clothing. Early arrivals were advised to use sunscreen and hats or umbrellas to avoid dehydration.
Alcohol consumption on the beach was formally banned, though actual enforcement could vary. Organizers emphasized early planning for toilet access, noting that in addition to restrooms in malls and businesses, several toilet trucks were positioned along the beach promenade, with particularly long queues expected for women.
Pickpocketing risks and communication issues
With the large crowds, the risk of pickpocketing increased, and local reports indicated there were regularly dozens of complaints about stolen valuables at such major events. Visitors were advised to travel in groups and agree on a fixed meeting point in advance.
The background to this advice was that mobile phone and internet connections were often overloaded or severely slowed during previous large events in Pattaya. Clearly defined emergency meeting points were therefore considered particularly important.
Full cultural program beyond the fireworks
Beyond the fireworks, the festival offered an extensive cultural program. Scheduled events included a children’s fashion show at around 6:30 p.m., a traditional Khon mask dance performance at about 8:30 p.m., live music with symphony orchestras and hundreds of food stalls.

Emergency numbers, security forces and exits
For emergencies, lost items or medical assistance, the city of Pattaya hotline 1337 was available, while the tourist police could be reached on 1155. In addition, marine units supported the security forces along the beach zone.
After the daily closing fireworks, visitors were urged to leave the area via side streets to avoid crowding on the main promenade and to ensure an orderly dispersal.
