Pattaya deploys new city cleaning teams

Over 100 contract workers briefed on role in tourism hub’s public image

PATTAYA, THAILAND – The city of Pattaya formally deployed more than one hundred newly hired cleaners and underlined their key role in shaping the tourist hub’s public image.

Briefing at Pattaya City Hall

The orientation took place at 10 a.m. in meeting room 241 at Pattaya City Hall, led by Mayor Poramese Ngampichet and supported by Deputy Mayor Manoch Nongyai. Also present were the mayor’s secretariat, heads of relevant departments, and representatives from the cleanliness control and pollution control divisions of the Office of Natural Resources and Environment. City officials regarded the event as the official briefing for the new contract personnel.

Response to rising waste volumes

Pattaya was described as one of Thailand’s most important tourist destinations, receiving millions of visitors each year and generating high daily volumes of municipal waste. According to the city administration, the existing number of permanent cleaners was no longer sufficient to cover all areas. Additional workers were therefore hired on a contract basis to be deployed reliably for street cleaning and public cleanliness.

Mayor’s call for responsibility and work ethic

Mayor Poramese and Deputy Mayor Manoch stressed in their address the importance of the new teams for Pattaya’s public image.

“Please carry out your duties with full responsibility and integrity,”

said Poramese, mayor. He emphasized that clean streets and residential areas were central to Pattaya’s reputation and directly affected residents’ quality of life as well as tourists’ experiences.

Cleanliness tied to long-term city development

The city leadership linked this appeal to a broader message, describing joint efforts to keep the city clean as a core element of sustainable urban development. Officials said Pattaya could only develop step by step into a cleaner and more visually appealing city through such efforts. They highlighted the need for collective action by administrative agencies and local communities alongside cleaning teams to secure the desired cityscape in the long term.

Focus areas ahead of peak season and major events

The new cleaning teams were instructed to begin work immediately in residential neighborhoods and along major traffic routes. Particular emphasis was placed on heavily frequented zones that were intensively used for tourism and transport. With the upcoming high season and large events, the city administration expected the increased presence of cleaners to keep public spaces consistently clean and meet higher demands during the peak travel period.

Reporting and responsibilities

The report on the meeting was prepared by Ms. Khwanchai Sueatrong, with photographs by Mr. Somprasong Phochanphan, both from the public relations unit of Pattaya’s Office of Tourism and Sports. The English-language version of the original release was compiled by Adam Judd for The Pattaya News, which described itself as committed to fact-based, up-to-date reporting.
