PATTAYA, THAILAND – Authorities conducted a large-scale enforcement operation on Pattaya and Jomtien beaches on the evening of June 3, 2026, to stop illegal beach chair rentals and alcohol sales.
Large-scale operation on Pattaya and Jomtien beaches
Officials from Pattaya City Hall, the district administration, and the city police searched several beach sections. The aim was to control unauthorized mat and chair rentals, as well as alcohol sales. This operation was a direct response to repeated public complaints about these unregulated activities on public land.
Who led the operation
The operation was led by Kiattisak Sriwongchai, the city clerk and acting mayor of Pattaya. He was supported by District Chief Natthaphop Yomjinda and Deputy Superintendent of City Police, Siriwat Katchamat. The raid also included officers from the tourist police, the port authority, and municipal enforcement officers. The checks began around 8:30 PM.
Focus: Central Pattaya Festival to Soi 13
Enforcement officers specifically targeted the beach area in front of the Central Pattaya Festival shopping mall, extending to Soi 13. This particular stretch is a popular zone for tourists. During the checks, officers found very few beach visitors and a limited number of chairs and mats ready for rent. Some visitors had brought their own equipment; one foreign visitor reported paying 200 Baht for a rental.
Arrest after illegal alcohol sale
Authorities apprehended one individual for the illegal sale of alcohol on public beach grounds. The suspect confessed to possessing the goods. Police have initiated further measures to prevent similar violations. The enforcement team also observed several motorcycles parked along the beach road, including large “Big Bikes” and smaller models, seemingly available for rent. Authorities confirmed these motorcycles were being offered for hire.
Authorities demand cleanliness and intensified checks
Kiattisak stated,
We have instructed all responsible agencies to intensify inspections and enforcement measures.
He added,
We also urge tourists and the public to contribute to cleanliness by not discarding bottles or trash on public beaches to preserve Pattaya’s image as a top tourist destination.
Deputy Superintendent Siriwat Katchamat announced increased police patrols to monitor alcohol and cannabis sales, as well as weapons checks. He emphasized that police would enforce the law against anyone selling alcohol on public property to prevent incidents that could compromise tourist safety and harm Pattaya’s reputation.
