Naked man disrupts Pattaya junction

Foreign man detained after appearing unclothed and striking cars on South Pattaya Second Road; taken to hospital

Pattaya, Thailand – A foreign man of about 40 years old suddenly appeared unclothed in the middle of a busy junction on South Pattaya Second Road, disrupting traffic and striking passing vehicles before police intervened.

The incident at a busy junction

The scene unfolded at the traffic lights on South Pattaya Second Road, a heavily used crossroads where motorists and pedestrians converge daily. Eyewitnesses said the man emerged into the roadway with his arms outstretched, surprising drivers and passers-by and quickly creating confusion.

Several witnesses reported that at times he seemed to be speaking or singing toward the sun. “He just stood there, raised his arms and shouted something,” a tourist said. The situation escalated when the man began to hit cars as they drove past, prompting hooting and evasive moves from drivers.

Police response and scene control

Local police arrived within minutes of the first emergency calls and moved to secure the junction. Officers redirected traffic and temporarily closed the intersection to protect road users while they tried to engage with the man.

According to a police spokesman, officers approached cautiously but the man was largely unresponsive to instructions. “He was not responsive and only spoke in disjointed sentences,” the spokesman said. Police said they were eventually able to detain him without further incident, praising the calm behaviour of bystanders amid the disturbance.

Condition of the man and medical checks

After his arrest it became clear the man was in a confused state. Investigators suspected he might have been under the influence of an unknown substance. “His behaviour was conspicuous; he could not give clear information and seemed unaware of his surroundings,” an investigator at the scene said.

For health and safety reasons, authorities transported him to a nearby hospital for examination and observation. Officials said there were no immediate indications of an ongoing threat to other people, but the episode remained the subject of local discussion.

Ongoing enquiries

Police opened inquiries to establish the man’s identity and background. So far there were no indications that he had committed a specific criminal offence, but authorities were assessing whether he required medical or psychological support.

Officers asked anyone with additional information about the incident or the man to come forward. The hospital examinations and subsequent investigative findings were expected to clarify the cause of the behaviour and determine any further action.
