SATTAHIP, THAILAND – A 32-year-old woman reportedly fell asleep at the wheel on Sukhumvit Road, causing a fatal collision that killed a motorcyclist on the spot.
Crash near the Pa-Wan restaurant
Police from Na Jomtien station confirmed that the accident occurred around 1 p.m. near the Pa-Wan restaurant in Moo 1, Sattahip District, along the coastal highway connecting Bang Saen and Bang Saray. The orange Nissan March, driven by Kanya Jirasakdakorn (32), veered off the main lane after impact and came to rest beside a pile of stones on the roadside.
Rescue volunteers from Sawang Rojana Thammasathan Foundation said Kanya Jirasakdakorn suffered neck and chest pain. Paramedics provided first aid before transferring her to Wat-Yanasangwararam Hospital for further treatment.
Victim pronounced dead at the scene
The blue-black Honda Scoopy, struck during the collision, was thrown approximately 30 meters and trapped beneath a parked pickup truck. The rider, Phonthep Suwannachat (47), died at the scene before medical help could arrive.

Witnesses told investigators that the entire event unfolded within seconds as numerous bystanders watched in disbelief.
Police and evidence collection
Police Lieutenant Colonel Mantian Kasodorn, the assigned investigator, sealed off the area, collected physical evidence, and reviewed surveillance footage from nearby shops to determine the exact sequence of events and vehicle speed. Officers stated that a final investigation report would be compiled within the coming days.

Online users in Chonburi Province noted the matching numerical pattern between the license plates—7110 on one vehicle and 1170 on the other—prompting heavy discussion on local social media. Police confirmed the similarity but said it held no investigative relevance.
